The method used to transport logs[Print 3]
Peasants bring lumber to the carpenter's workshop. The two-wheeled carts are drawn by oxen. A strong iron hook (visible to the left of the horse's hooves) is embedded into the block of wood that can then be bound to the cart. In the center, a miner counts the logs (zoom 1) by carving marks on a wooden rod. This piece of wood is cracked lengthwise. The "stock" is kept by the supplier as proof of the debt. The "specimen" est retained by the client.
