Geoffrey NOTKIN

Geoffrey Notkin was born in New York's East Village in 1961, and raised in London, England.

He began studying photography at the age of 13 with Henry Maslin in south London, and later with Cora Kennedy and Walter Silver at New York's School of Visual Arts. He earned his BFA with honors in 1987, and has been employed as a geologist, editor, construction worker, jeweller, rock 'n' roll musician, librarian, and cartoonist, and has travelled from the southern edge of the Atacama Desert in Chile, to the northern tip of Siberia in search of the perfect adventure photograph.

In his spare time he writes articles on paleontology and meteoritics and runs a graphic arts and photography business in Jersey City, New Jersey. He currently resides in a crumbling nineteenth century Greek Revival building on the west bank of the Hudson River with one cat, no children, and far too many fossils.
